Any complaints on violations of human rights can be made to the human rights institution.

PETALING JAYA: The Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (Suhakam) is ready to receive complaints from the public with regard to claims on violations of human rights on polling day tomorrow.

“The Suhakam office will operate on May 5 to receive complaints from the public on violations of human rights.

“Complaints related to the 13th general election can be made from 8am to 6pm,” said Suhakam secretary Rodziah Abdul said in a statement.

The public may contact these hotlines:

KL office: 03-2612 5669/ 03-2612 5691

Sarawak office: 082-234 650

Sabah office: 088-317 802/ 088-317 803

This is the first of such efforts by Suhakam as it is noted that in the previous elections, Suhakam did not open its lines for complaints to be made on polling day.

The human rights institution was established by the Malaysian parliament and began its work in April 2000. The commission is currently headed by former diplomat Hasmy Agam.
